Call your local escrow / title company, they can gve you the names of 2 or 3 surveyors. It's hard to get estimates from them since there a lot of variables.
Also ask the Title Company what the range is that they have seen for your type and size of property.

Surveyors do not charge by the acre. A reputable surveyor will charge around $500 for a lot survey... depending upon the legal description and the difficulty of the survey. Anyone who charges you less than that is most likely doing substandard work.
