Yes, you can get some experience working in land surveying part time, or only on weekends, but it will be very little help to you if you are hoping to become a licensed professional land surveyor. Your employer will have to sign a reference form, stating whether you worked part time or full time, in order for you to qualify to take the professional land surveying exam. Unless your employer is willing to lie for you, it will take you many years of weekend work to build up enough experience to be qualified for the exam.
