In NH do you have to file every land survey with the state?

My nasty neighbor claims he surveyed the land between the homes. We would like to see the survey. Were they required to file with the state of New Hampshire?

Laws vary from state to state.. In California if I set a property corner or boundary line I am required to file a document with the local county surveyor or recorder. This is public information and can be obtained at the recording offices or where ever surveys are kept for the public to review.

But.. if I just perform a topographic survey, or provide a report on a non boundary issue, I do not have to do more then provide the information to my client. It is his information and he has bought and paid for it. No one else gets it unless he authorizes it.

My suggestion is to call your local County or City surveyor and ask the same question. He/She has no vested interest in your situation and will give you either a starting answer , a detailed answer and assistance, or provide you with the name of the state licensing board (which enforces those laws) .

You might also try an alternate source. When your homes were constructed they likely had to provide a survey to the City/Township. Go there and see if THOSE records are available.

good luck... if worse comes to worse.. you can always hire your own surveyor and not share that information with the Other guy !
Reply:Nope. Only filed when required by a lender, a title company or a buyer. He paid for it; you really don't have a right to see it.
