Describe the features on a topographical map and how these a surveyor who is surveying a large parcel of land?

Your question looks like it lost the second part.

A topographical map (topo) can have virtually all the features that an aerial photo might have including notes and comments and annotations. In addition it will have contours and elevations based upon some kind of datum (sea level, local datum plane, etc.).

Topos will also show buildings, roads, trees, brush lines, etc.. as well as creeks and rivers. Some topos will show utility structures and connect these for underground locations with the appropriate disclaimer (you generally can not measure what you can not see - unless you drag out special equipment).

Topos may also show features that are only exist on paper such as easments, property lines, City or jurisdictional boundaries.

Topos may also convey extra information, such as a mountains summit elevation or the ownership of the land.

In short.. a topo can be a very intense survey..
